MAGUS Bio 240T is a small biological microscope for education and research. Designed for work with transparent and translucent specimens of biological origin in the brightfield method. The microscope features a coded revolving nosepiece, which maintains selected light intensity for each objective, and an LCD screen, which displays the operating parameters.
The Bio 240T model is equipped with a trinocular head with a vertical tube for mounting a digital video camera. Beam splitting is 0/100 and 100/0. The optics of the microscope head are infinity-corrected. The tubes revolve and can make a full rotation. The eye relief is adjustable and can be set by the user to the desired height. Two eyepiece tubes are equipped with diopter adjustment rings, allowing the user to adjust the sharpness of the image to suit their vision. The microscope comes with 2 standard 10x/20mm eyepieces. They are fitted with rubber eyecups, which are convenient for users wearing glasses, as the eyecups protect the glasses from damage.
The revolving nosepiece is designed for 4 objectives. The revolver is turned away from the user, which keeps the area above the stage free. Intelligent lighting remembers the light intensity settings for each objective, and so when the nosepiece is turned, the desired brightness is automatically turned on. As a result, there is no drastic difference in lighting between different objectives and the eyes do not get tired. In addition, time is saved on adjusting the light, especially if during work you have to frequently change the magnification.
The microscope is equipped with coaxially located coarse and fine focusing knobs. The handles are located at the bottom of the microscope body: The user can place their hands on the table and take a comfortable position. The coarse focus lock knob is located on the left side. It is used for adjustment after switching objectives. The ring on the right side adjusts the tension of the coarse focusing travel.
The specimen stage is equipped with a belt drive mechanism that gently moves the specimen along the stage. The specimen holder is mounted with two screws or, if necessary, it can be removed completely.
Another feature of this microscope is the Abbe condenser fixed and centered along the optical axis. Because it is fixed, the condenser cannot be accidentally moved, which is important for an educational microscope.
The condenser has a numerical aperture of 1.25. The body bares markings indicating objective magnifications. The iris diaphragm is adjusted by a knob, which is set to a certain marking, depending on the selected objective. This makes the image contrasty and the specimen better visible.
The light source in the microscope is a 3W LED with an operational life of 50,000 hours. The illuminator is capable of changing the color temperature in the range of 3000 to 7000K. The user can set the desired value, depending on the required study parameters.
All of the selected settings – magnification of the working objective, lighting characteristics, and operating mode – are displayed on the LCD screen. Using a pair of knobs, you can adjust the light, set the sleep mode, or set the auto-off time.
The microscope has a convenient and functional design. After installing the microscope on the work area, the power supply and power cord are hidden from the user’s eyes, and the side openings in the stand serve as handles by which the microscope can be carried or moved around.
