Description

Stylish and attractive, Levenhuk Rainbow 2L Microscope can turn even the most boring biology class into enthralling research. This microscope allows children to find out what things around them are made of, to study insects and plants, see whether yogurt really does contain living organisms, and many other interesting things. Levenhuk Rainbow 2L comes with an experiment kit, which means that a young explorer can start using the microscope right away.

High-quality optics
Microscope lenses are made of special optical glass with a high level of transparency. Optical surfaces are additionally covered with multilayer coating, which increases light transmission and enhances image quality. This model comes with three objective lenses, so the microscope is capable of providing 40–400x magnification. Changing magnification is very easy – all you need to do is to turn the revolving nosepiece.

Versatility – study both transparent and non-transparent samples
One of the main advantages of this microscope is the ability to observe both transparent and opaque samples. For this purpose the microscope is equipped with two illumination sources. Lower illumination is used for observing transparent samples–for example, thin slices of plants and insects. Upper illumination allows for observing opaque objects such as small stones, coins and bills and many others. You can also observe semitransparent samples by turning both illuminations on. The selection of interesting samples to study is only limited by their size and the observer’s imagination.

Smart design
The plastic body of this microscope is a lot lighter than those made of metal – the microscope is easy and comfortable to take along to school, for a walk or when visiting friends. At the same time, the microscope is very sturdy, so it’s perfect for intense use. In order to provide more comfort during observations, the head is inclined at 45°. Illumination can be powered by either an electrical outlet or batteries.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220–240V in most European countries.

Experiment kit
Thanks to the included Levenhuk K50 Experiment Kit, young scientists won’t have to puzzle over where to start their research. Hi! Bought this microscope to a kid as a Christmas gift and we are all happy with it. Thanks! One question - we tried to observe paramecium caudatum in aquarium water, but couldn‘t find any…we also tried to use potassium permanganate - no progress. Is this microscope capable of such observations at all?
Customer service:
Paramecium caudatum can be observed under 100x and above, therefore Levenhuk Rainbow 2L Moonstone Microscope is suitable for that. You can find more information on observations of Paramecium caudatum here - https://www.levenhuk.com/blog/knowledge-base-microscopes/paramecium-caudatum-your-first-friend-from-the-microworld/ .
Lusey Lang (2017.12.06)
Hello! I’m choosing a gift for a 10-year-old kid. It’s gonna be his first microscope so it should be easy to use and, at the same time, capable enough for school curriculum (at least secondary school). I’m choosing between this model and Levenhuk Rainbow 50L Plus. Which model will be optimal?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 50L PLUS is preferable as the kit contains an experiment kit, case for transportation and storage. Its magnification makes it suitable for secondary school curriculum.
Iris (2017.09.24)
Good afternoon, I want to ask about the this telescopes kit. On the picture there is an extended set, but it`s smaller in the description. Is this a mistake?
Customer service:
All items are listed in the description of the Levenhuk LabZZ T3 telescope. The kit includes: telescope, 4mm eyepiece, 12.5mm eyepiece, 1.5o erecting eyepiece, 3x Barlow lens, 5x optical finder, diagonal mirror; aluminum tripod with accessory tray
Isaak Fin (2017.09.16)
What is the difference between LabZZ M2 and LabZZ M3? Is LabZZ M101 better?
Customer service:
The difference is in magnification and optics quality. LabZZ M101 has smaller magnification than M2 and M3, but the picture quality is better. LabZZ M3 microscope has a projector included in the set.
Walt Chan (2017.09.02)
Could you tell me please, will the magnification increase if I replace 10x eyepiece with 16x?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L Moonstone microscope has a maximum magnification of 400x. We do not recommend exceeding it, because it might result into poor picture quality.
Kate Stone (2017.07.12)
Good afternoon! Could you tell me please if this microscope is suitable for a 4.5 y.o. child? Or is it too heaped-up? (I also have a 12 y.o son and would like to buy a microscope that will suit them both).
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L Moonstone Microscope will perfectly suit both kids. It’s really easy to use. We recommend that you be around when a smaller child is playing with it, because the microscope is fragile and has some small pieces.
Colin Cox (2017.06.02)

This model or Levenhuk Rainbow 50L? My child is 10 yo, he is a beginner. Does the 50L one really worth the extra money?

Hi! I am looking for a microscope for my 6-year-old kid, I am thinking about Levenhuk Rainbow 2L and Levenhuk LabZZ M101. As far as I understand one of them has plastic optics and the other - glass optics….Is this essintial? Does it affect image quality?
