Hi,
Thanks for the query.
To use the electronic light source, you need to install two 1.5-volt batteries in the base of the microscope. In order to do that, you need to remove the rubber base on the microscope with a screwdriver and to insert the batteries according to the displayed +/- information reattaching the rubber base to the microscope using the screwdriver.
