The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" Dobsonian features an open-truss optical tube design, making it an ideal and portable telescope for astronomy trips to dark-sky locations. With a 254mm aperture and a 1270mm focal length, it strikes the perfect balance for effectively studying Solar System objects and deep-sky phenomena such as galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and some double or multiple star systems. This telescope model reveals a wealth of fascinating cosmic details. These include lunar craters and maria as small as 1.5km to 2km, Jupiter’s Great Red Spot and white ovals, the Cassini Division, and other features in Saturn’s rings, Saturn’s moon Titan, and the polar ice caps on Mars during oppositions. It brings out structures within the brightest nebulae and galaxies, and it resolves individual stars in open and globular clusters.
The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" is a large and powerful telescope. However, despite its size and outstanding optical performance, it remains easy for anyone to operate. The optical tube is mounted on a stable, portable Dobsonian base, which features a simple, intuitive alt-azimuth design for straightforward manual operation. The dual-speed 2" rack-and-pinion focuser, complete with a 1.25" adapter, delivers universal eyepiece compatibility and precise focus control. The instrument’s highest practical power is 500x. The supplied 10mm and 25mm Plössl eyepieces (1.25") provide magnifications of 127x and 51x, respectively.
The telescope’s reliable performance is founded on its quality internal optics that are made of BK-7 glass, which is a material trusted in professional optical instruments. The parabolic primary mirror is designed to focus all incoming light onto a single point, eliminating spherical aberration. The mirrors are coated with high-quality aluminum, providing a reflectivity of 92–95%.
The optical tube is not solid; it is built on an open-truss design. Its main advantage over a classic solid tube is easy transport and storage. When disassembled, the tube is a set of sturdy rods that take up very little space. When assembled, it is just as reliable as a solid one. A protective fabric shroud is included to shield the mirrors from dust when the telescope is in use.
Along with the eyepieces and protective shroud, the Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 10" package also includes an 8x40 optical finderscope and a primary mirror cooling fan. The cooling fan is powered by 8 AA batteries (sold separately).
