MAGUS CHD20 is a digital camera for mounting on a microscope. It is designed for taking photos and recording videos of research, editing them, and it is also capable of measuring the linear and angular dimensions of objects and their structures. The device runs on its own software, so that it can be connected not only to a computer, but also directly to an external screen. For this purpose, the camera is equipped with two types of interfaces: HDMI and USB.
The camera produces a high-quality Full HD image (1920x1080px), and it provides high frame rates and high data transfer rates between devices. It features a Sony sensor with high light sensitivity that is able to shoot even in fluorescent light. Another feature of this camera is the use of RGB mosaic filters. This reduces the dark current and provides a clear image. The camera’s entire system is aimed at creating a high-quality image without tearing, freezing, or distortion, even if the subject of observation is moving.
Sensor
The Starvis series color CMOS sensor from SONY, with its small size (1/2'', 3.75x3.75μm pixel), has high photosensitivity (1175mV at a shutter speed of 1/30s) and allows you to shoot even in low light conditions. This is possible thanks to the use of backlight technology. To create the widest possible field of view without distortion, it is recommended to use an adapter with a magnification of 0.5x to 0.7x.
Software
The camera comes with an installation disk with software for operating the device. The built-in software enables the MAGUS CHD20 camera to work autonomously to take photos and record videos, process the results directly on the device, and even take measurements of the object. To take measurements, you must first calibrate the software for each objective using a calibration slide.
Connecting to external devices
MAGUS CHD20 supports connection to an external screen, computer as well as the integration of additional devices. Connection to a monitor, TV, or a projector is via the HDMI interface, at 60fps. You can connect the camera to a computer via USB2.0 interface at 50fps.
The camera comes with a 32GB SD card. You can save photos and videos on it and process them using the built-in software. The USB interface allows you to connect a flash drive.
It is recommended to use a mouse to operate camera applications. It is also included in the kit and is designed to level out vibrations that arise from direct interaction with the camera.
The device can be combined with special MAGUS monitors, which are installed directly on the camera and create a microscope imaging system.
Mounting on a microscope
The camera can be inserted into the microscope eyepiece tube, connecting to it via a C-mount adapter and an adapter ring for the diameter of the tube (purchased separately). A C-mount adapter is used to install the device into the trinocular tube.
