Description

Bright and stylish Rainbow 2L PLUS microscopes are the logical continuation of the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L series. New microscopes combine all the advantages of the previous line with new, favorable features. These microscopes are equipped with two illumination systems – that means you can observe transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque microscope samples.

Each model comes with a Levenhuk K50 Experiment Kit – this kit will help young researches with their first independent experiments and research. The main difference of the new microscopes is their improved optics. They produce higher magnification power (up to 640x) and can be used for serious research by biology students. All microscopes are equipped with a spring-loaded objective lens – its design prevents any damage, even if the objective touches the slide during the focusing process.

Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS microscopes have reliable metal bodies – they are known for its long service life even when used intensively in colleges or laboratories. And, of course, we should mention their modern design and five bright body colors – one of these beautiful microscopes will look very nice in your child’s room or on your desktop.

Excellent optics
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS biological microscopes are made of only the highest quality materials. The lenses are made of a special optical glass of high transparency. For better light transmission, the optical surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating, which increases sharpness and contrast of produced images.

The kit includes three objective lenses producing 64x, 160x, and 640x magnification. The most powerful objective lens (40xs) has a special spring-loaded mechanism for optics safety.

Combined illumination
One more advantage of the model – the microscope is equipped with two LED illuminations. Lower illumination is used for viewing transparent samples, such as liquids or thin sections of plant and animal tissue. Upper illumination allows for observing opaque objects – paper, minerals, cloth, and metal. If you turn both illuminations on at once, you can observe semi-transparent objects. You can also adjust brightness for a better view.

Durable and convenient body
The reliable body is made of metal – it can easily withstand frequent use and serve you for years to come. For more convenience, the monocular head is inclined at an angle of 45 degrees. Moreover, it can be rotated 360 degrees – and that is very convenient for working in a group; you can just rotate the head itself without moving the microscope.

This instrument can be used indoors and outdoors – the microscope can be powered by an outlet or batteries.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220–240V in most European countries.

Questions and Answers
Kate Polowarsky (2018.05.30)
using a 40x lens sharpness appears when the stage is close to the lens (well, thanks it’s springy). is it ok? But in this case the lens obstructs all the upper light. I could only see the prepared samples. I covered my own samples with a slide (havent bought coverslips yet), and couldnt adjust sharpness, apparently this glass is too thick.
Customer service:
There is a spring 40xs lens in Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Microscope, and it should be lowered very closely to a cover glass with a sample for observation with only the lower illumination.
Mary Neshwil (2018.04.16)

Sean Palmer (2017.01.30)
How to properly use the disk with diaphragms integrated in the stage of the device? What position is considered standard (from which position of the disk should I start my observations) and what visible changes should I notice?
Customer service:
The diaphragm is a disk located beneath a high-powered microscope's stage, usually having five holes of different diameters. When turning the disk, the amount of light passing through the hole in the stage is changed - it helps to correctly illuminate different samples, increase their contrast and resolution. The largest aperture is standard.
Sean Palmer (2017.01.27)
Is it possible to replace the bright field condenser with the dark field one? If this model doesn’t allows this, them which inexpensive models do?
Customer service:
Inexpensive models do not allow this. Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope

Customer service:
There are no objectives for the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Microscope in our range of products.
Harry Bowen (2017.01.15)
Hello! Is it possible to buy additional accessories to increase the microscope's magnification?
Customer service:
For the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS microscope, you can purchase a 20x eyepiece, which will give you 800x magnification. Pay attention to the fact that this can be detrimental to the quality of the image!

Jim and Gill (2016.11.09)
Good time of day! We are looking for a family microscope, we have 7 yo kid. We take microscope as a mean of self-education and learning. Does it make sense to pay more for the 2L PLUS model? I mean as far as I know you can see a lot of interesting stuff under 400x, why pay extra? Maybe 2L PLUS with its 640x magnification is capable of something more? I heard somewhere that with high magnification images loose their 'volume'. Please help us decide on the right model. Thank you
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS does not loose in image quality while having higher magnification. Another advantage the PLUS model is a body made of metal.
Elaine Bird (2016.10.30)
Is this microscope suitable for a kid 11 yo? Is it suitable for observing red blood cells?
Customer service:
Yes, Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Moonstone is a perfect choice for a 11 years old child. Yes, this model allows for observations of red blood cells, but not their movement. In order to see the movement of red blood cells you will need a more powerful model, for example Levenhuk 320 Biological Microscope (https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-320-base-biological-monocular-microscope/ ).
Guy Coleman (2016.10.25)
