Description

Levenhuk Skyline PRO 90 MAK is a catadioptric telescope of Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design. This design allows for a long focal distance – 1250 millimeters (49.2 inches) – to be encased in a tube only 25 centimeters (9.8 inches) long, which means that you can easily go stargazing in the countryside. The 90-millimeter (3.5-inch) aperture and long focal distance make this telescope perfect for high-powered planetary observations, and provide views of high quality. At medium power you can observe various deep-sky objects, such as nebulae and star clusters. This model is for those who do not want to worry about carrying cumbersome equipment to the countryside for observations, but still want to have a powerful tool for their observations. Besides, this telescope may be easily mounted on a regular tripod and – with an addition of an erecting prism – may become a powerful spotting scope for terrestrial observations.

The lenses and mirrors are fully multi-coated, which allows for maximum light-gathering and increases their service life. The sturdy and lightweight aluminum tube is set up on an equatorial mount with slow-motion controls. You can also install the equatorial computerized drive system (purchased separately) on your mount. It is equipped with setting circles which – after a quick adjustment – allow for locating objects by their celestial coordinates and tracking them with just a turn of an equatorial control. The adjustable height tripod has a practical accessory tray where you can store all your tools. The red dot finder scope allows you to quickly navigate to the desired location. The kit includes 10-millimeter (0.4-inch) and 25-millimeter (0.98-inch) eyepieces with 52-degree field of view of 125x and 50x magnification, respectively. The lenses are made of glass and are fully multi-coated. Focusing your telescope is as easy as adjusting the primary mirror with a move of the smooth-turning knob. This model accepts 31.75-millimeter (1.25-inch) eyepieces; so you can use eyepieces purchased separately – not just those supplied with the kit – therefore increasing the magnification to the highest practical power of 180x. The focuser has the standard T-thread, which allows you to attach an SLR camera using an adapter and use your telescope for astrophotography.

The optics are of a very high quality and exceeded my expectations at this price point. It matches or exceeds the quality of the Orion 90mm Mak-Cas and it comes with an equatorial mount and tripod for the same cost as Orion's cheap tabletop version. I'll be mounting this telescope on a higher quality equatorial mount and tripod but the one that came with it is more than acceptable for a beginner. I'll still use the mount that came with it when I plan on traveling light.What can you see with this scope? Don't expect to see very many deep space objects such as nebula and galaxies. If you live in an area with low light pollution you might be able to make them out, but don't expect to see much. This scope is great for planetary viewing and lunar viewing. Saturn's rings are very clearly visible as well are Jupiter and it's four large moons. With the supplied lenses you can easily make out banding from Jupiter's clouds.If you're looking to get into astronomy or are looking for a lightweight and portable scope, this is definitely a good scope for under $250. Great telescope, excellent image quality, the Moon views are incredible. The shipping is fast, the package was delivered in good shape and on time, I got great discount btw. Thanks. I'll take the liberty of asking one more question. Is there a relation between focal length and CCD size of SLR camera? I found the info that to get the magnification I need to divide objective lens focal length by matrix diagonal. Following this logic, I divided 1250 mm (the aperture of Skyline PRO 90 MAK) by 26 mm (matrix diagonal of my Canon EOS 1100D). The answer is about 48x. Is it correct? Thank you in advance and forgive me for my silly questions.

Sorry, but I just can't stop myself from asking. Didn't you mistype about the cost of additional accessories that come with Levenhuk Strike 950 PRO? I mean if they really cost $300 why would you give them away for just one hundred? Why so generous? It looks like a trick for me, you know as they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Maybe the telescopes are defective so you just give a lot of gifts to sell them out?

HI! I purchased this telescope two month ago. It's not bad! Since then i've already observed a few objects. However, when watching Jupiter , I was puzzled by how "See it all!" astronomer handbook shows the pic. of Jupiter taken with a small telescope - it's very detailed photo about 1 in. in diameter. The smallest image is shown pea-sized. But when I was looking through the eyepiece, i was pretty sure that was Venus. And, if not for the obvious four satellites, I would still think it was Venus. The thing is that through the telescope Jupiter is only a 2 - 3 mm dot , but through the "Super 10 " lens it's about 4 - 5mm. Tell me please, what does it depend on? Maybe I don't understand correctly how does the telescope work? Is it possible to increase the power without changing lenses? Thank you!
